ZX600 Restoration - Painting. - Black, Striping and Lettering

Fist stripe laid. looks good. I am dissapointed with the lettering. They are not to scale..  Here's the stripe extended onto the fairing. Will have Ninja in black above black stripe and ZX6R in the middle of the black in white.

Soooo close. Clear done. Spent hours getting the fairng bracket lined up Front turn signals are wrong, will get flush mounts

Only thing left is the bracket to mount the tank (should be here 4/28.) Seem to have misplaced the gas cap. Have another coming in.

Update 07-14-2006:

Flush mount turn signals installed.

Well it looked like I was done. But it was overheating. I pulled the water pump to find it covered in scale/rust. Scraped it down. Then added flush to the cooling system. It started pouring white steam out the exhaust. Arrgh, bad head gasket.

So, pulled head and cylinders. While there, replaced the rings, gaskets and valve seals.Adjusted the vales also.

Put back together and it runs again. Still gets hotter than I like. I am still fighting the carbs. I need to order new pilot jets as these are just screwed up from corrosion. I had reamed them out and it helped considerably, but idle screws were still almost 4 turns out to run right. Choke did not work well either. I reamed them out the next drill size and now it is too rich even at 1 turn out. So will order jets to get right size.

I put in a new clutch as the old one was starting to slip. Now have 300 miles on it.

The front wheel rubs the lower scoop when breaking. I have seen a lot of scoops with the front cut off or worn on ebay. Seems ther is not much clearance. I did not notice the problem until I replaced the tire. So new tire is bigger that the stock. Part of the problem was play in the head bearings. Those were tightened. It still rubs under hard braking.

This rubbing wore through the coolant bottle. I have relocated it inside the fairing.
